Today’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge asks us to Share a picture that captures a fleeting moment on the street! For full details check out the post HERE.
We have a Farmers Market every Saturday morning here in Penticton. Last Saturday, they had a drum band in the middle of the market. Young and old, novice and experienced drummers were making rhythms for one Saturday only. I took this photo of a young boy attempting to join in. He was watching the leader of the group very closely and how the man used his drum sticks.
It was a wonderful moment when the boy showed no inhibitions but just a desire to risk and try. How long will it be before that boy no longer dares to try new things for fear of looking stupid?
Moments like these are fleeting.

i love it..did you give it a go?
No. We just wandered past. After a while, it was a bit too much to be honest. But this young lad was thoroughly enjoying himself.
you don’t like drums? 😉 lol
I do, but when you hear them for an hour without a break, it reminds me of African festivals etc. It just gets a bit much.
i can understand that! is your head still drumming? 😉

Very cute! I like this one.
It is isn’t it? The boy was just totally focused on watching what the leader was doing. Dad was standing nearby but didn’t intervene. I think his attitude was “Go for it, son.”
Perfect for the theme–love the story and the photo.
Thank you Naomi. I love to see kids doing things without any thought of how they look. Innocence.
Lovely picture 🙂 Thank you for the pingback!

Love the image Kate…the tilt really gives it added movement
Thank you Jo. I liked the idea of tilting the photo but it came about by accident because I couldn’t get all the drums in the photo otherwise. Sometimes, needs must and it works out better than expected.
