Reifel Bird Sanctuary – Barred Owl

Look hard and you will find owls in trees during the day.  You’ve just got to know what to look for.  This Barred Owl was taking a nap and its presence meant that we didn’t see any other owl variety that are normally found in the area.  Shame that, though I did appreciate this wonderful bird for its own beauty.  It’s obvious how it gets its name.  Difficult to see the head when taking a photo from the ground though!

  1. I’m reading The Big Year right now. Yea bird watching!

    • I’m loving the variety of wildfowl that I am seeing while here in Vancouver. I’m not a serious ‘twitcher’ but I love to see birds of all types. They are a marvel.
