There is one thing that I am not very fond of. It is formal gardens with clipped hedges, neatly shaped lawns and crisp, symmetrically planted flower beds. I know that there is a place for them, but they are not for me.
Give me a garden, or landscape, that allows freedom of form; that pushes the boundaries; where plants are allowed to fall where they may.
I often see gardens as a ‘mirror’ of the owners. I wonder what owner of the garden where I took this photograph is like? Are they pushing the boundaries and free thinking? I hope so.
