5th Oct 2012 – Orchids at Bloedel Conservatory, Vancouver

I have spent today, Friday, doing something I truly love; spending time looking at plants and flowers.  Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver is a gem in the city with a tropical hot-house, the Bloedel Conservatory.  When I visited, they had some orchids on display and two enthusiastic orchid lovers who were prepared to share their hints and tips about these most amazing plants.  Did you know that there are over 20,000 different varieties of orchids in the world?

I took hundreds of photos during the day, so to whittle them down to one photo of the day has been hard, but it had to be an orchid.  These are Paphiopedilum orchids.
