26th Sept 2012 – Harvesting

Its September and in the northern hemisphere it is harvest time.  Many a gardener or farmer is in the process of picking the fruits of his/her labours and preserving the result for supply over the winter.  Reminds me of that hymn: –

Come ye thankful people come,

Raise the song of harvest home.

All is safely gathered in ‘er the winter storms begin.

God our maker doth provide

All our wants, to be supplied

Come ye thankful people come

Raise the song of harvest home.

One gardener nearby has harvested the chillies.  This wonderful display of colour was lying on the ground outside the garden gate, where the last of the evening sun could be found, drying off the fruits.

Makes me wish that I was back with my allotment garden in the UK, harvesting my plot.  Unfortunately, since moving to Canada, I have to make do with other people’s gardens, and seeing wonderful sights like these.  I delight in other people’s good garden fortune.
