13th Sept 2012 – Life Cycle

Life cycle: definition – The series of changes in the life of an organism, including reproduction.

For Damselflies their life cycle is very short, either taking one or two years.  This photo of mating damselflies is lovely, yet quite sad.  Although the female will lay a few clutches of eggs in the mud of a pond or lake, she will usually die soon after mating, so this is a photo of both a beginning and an end.
