The Ironman has been part of Penticton for 30 years. It is a long distance triathlon consisting of swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles and running 26.2 miles – a triathlon like no other and the longest of all. Penticton is rightly proud of its connection with this incredible athletic sport.
This year, though, was the last Ironman in Penticton. It will be replaced by the Challenge-Family of races, which incorporates the long distance race. It will be exciting to see how this new sponsor works with the Penticton community and how it brings in the athletes to this event. Can’t wait until August next year.
I found this homage to the triathlon in Front Street. Graffiti it is not – street art it definitely is.
