Today, I had the wonderful pleasure of watching a female cricket in the garden. Now I know that crickets are normally nocturnal, but this one had a mission to accomplish. She was laying her eggs in the damp soil.
My two photos show her walking across the rocks of the garden to find a suitable spot and then, having found one, she inserted her abdomen into the soil found in the undergrowth. Hopefully, you can just make out her abdomen under the leaves.
