26th July 2012 – Orchid Cactus

This stunning, blousy and unashamedly pink flower was one of about 50 flowers on the Orchid Cactus plant that I found today.  Many of the other flowers had blossomed and were past their best, but this one was still vibrant and full of life.

Used as a houseplant, this orchid cactus is hung outside for the warm summer and it loves the change.  It seems to be thankful for the freedom of the outdoors by putting on this most flamboyant display.
