18th June 2012 – Man-Made Patterns 1

This week, I am going to concentrate on looking for, and photographing, man-made patterns.  Again, once you start looking, they are everywhere.

I thought I would start with a simple form.  Car tyres (‘tires’ for those not from the UK!) are everywhere; on cars; in garages and tyre retail outlets; on dumping sites; and in gardens!  This set of four was stacked neatly against a wooden fence.  There were patterns to be found here: the tread in the tyres, the pattern of the four tyres stacked against the fence, and the fence itself.

I found that the contrast between the curves and the lines in this photo accentuate the patterns found here, and even create their own pattern.
