5th June 2012 – A study in black and white

I love taking photos in monochrome.   They are quite refreshing after having taken numerous photos in colour.  They promote texture and form, whereas colour can distract from these.

The photo below is a monochrome of my tripod.  OK, not the most expensive tripod in the world, but when you are starting out, you make do.  It has uncoloured plastic fixtures and in natural light, they become quite ghost-like.

The photo was taken in natural light, ISO 1600, F5.6, 1/6, Focal length 43mm

  1. Very interesting photo of your tripod. =)

    • Thank you. I was very pleased with the way that it came out. It was definitely more striking in B/w than in colour. The purple legs distracted from the shape and texture of the fixtures.
Thanks also for visiting me here. Hope to see you again.

  2. This is great! Love the use of black & white.
