We are being asked to post a photo of what BLUE means to us within this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge. There are plenty of thoughts that pass my mind:
- cold, cooling
- expanse
- the easiest colour to see in the light spectrum (which is why you have a blue sky)
- and FREEDOM
For some reason, because the sky is so vast, the oceans and seas so deep and wide, I see blue as representing freedom.
I saw this kite being flown in the cloudless blue sky and I loved the way it just ‘played’ with the wind, tugging at the string for its own freedom, yet still held down. Freedom beckons ….. but not quite yet.

Beautifully blue! I’ve been wanting to buy a kite for sometime now … thanks for the wonderful reminder, it’s on the to-do list!
So pleased that it brought it to mind for you. Have fun.
I like kites, that one is really cool.
This is such a good kite. I would love to see more.
All most beautiful… Amazing how the blue sky just accentuates the colours of the kite.
Thank you Robin. Because I took this photo on zoom and then cropped it, it wasn’t until I had it all neatly trimmed did I see the full detail of this kite, and the colours. I love it too.
Looking forward to seeing so many interpretations of this theme.
soaring free!
Yes, I get a sense that this photo is encouraging me to keep stepping out and to keep opening my wings.

Kate thisis great…it isn’t easy to get a clear shot like this and the kite is beautiful
Really, the most magnificent shot – it’s almost as though the kite’s alive, a bird thrusting its chest forward against it’s trailing arms that are holding it back … It’s deeply affecting somehow:)
Wow. It is an amazing sight. I love the way the trailing ribbons give a length and elegance to the main body. Thank you for your insight.
🙂

Great kite design.
Sure is. I like to see any kite fighting the wind, but this one is rather appealing. Thanks for visiting here. I hope to see you again.
