18th April 2012 – Changeable weather

Today started out so promisingly.  Bright sunshine welcomed the day and warmed the heart.  This afternoon, clouds began to bubble up over the mountains and the wind started to get up.  Penticton is known for its strong wind, blowing through the valley funnelled between the mountains.  It’s a beast in winter but a welcome relief in the hot summer!

Well the weather certainly changed this afternoon and I have watched the darkening clouds move over the mountain ranges towards us.  And in between the dark clouds, and the rain, are patches of sunlight.

I make no apologies for the darkness of this photo.  It really was that dark!

I used shutter priority 1/400, f5.6, ISO 100.  Perhaps I should have adjusted the ISO a bit but I had to get this photo quickly…… it was very windy and rainy!!!!  Oh the trails of being a photographer. 🙂

  1. Looks cool . . . and ominous.

    • Ominous it certainly is. As I write this I can’t see a thing out of the window because of the very heavy rain and thick cloud. We are 3000ft up a mountain though!!!

  2. oh man that is a really really good shot! and the weather has been totally confusing today!

  3. Fantastic photo!
