20th March 2012 – Puffed Up

Saw this beautiful bird today, preening itself, possibly looking for a mate, or it may have puffed its feathers against the cold wind.  I think it is a Blue Jay, but someone more familiar with North American birds can educate this British visitor to Canada!

I know one thing about this bird; it can be very noisy.  When I first saw it, it had an acorn in its mouth and seemed to be proudly displaying it.  But by the time I got the camera out, the bird had lost it.
