17th March 2012 – Shamrock plant

I think that this plant is wonderful.  During daylight the leaves are spread out wide seeking the sun, but as night falls, the leaves fold themselves up, ready for ‘bed’.  I wasn’t quick enough to see this opportunity when I first saw this plant, so I missed taking a photograph with the fully extended leaves.  However I did managed to take a quick shot as the plant readied itself for sleep.

And, it completely passed me by that today was St. Patrick’s Day until I came to post this and, of course, shamrock is very Irish.
